Alleged Attempt to Remove H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode's Eredo LGA Slot

 

Good morning, distinguished  APC members

As the recognized *APC LGA Chairman of Eredo LCDA*, I consider it my responsibility to keep party members and stakeholders informed about the current political situation within Eredo.

I was nominated as the APC LGA Chairman of Eredo as the slot of *His Excellency Akinwunmi Ambode* during a stakeholders' meeting held at his office in *Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.*  The meeting was attended by prominent party leaders, including representatives of 

*H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode*,

 *Alhaji Akanni Seriki,* 

*Rt. Hon. Yemi Ikuforiji*,

*Hon. Wasiu Odeyemi,*

 *Hon. Wale Raji,*

 *Hon. Musiliu Folami*

, *Hon. Shakiru Adebanjo*

, *Hon. Abiodun Tobun,*

 *Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu*

, *Hon. Bola Ajisefini*

, *Alhaji Mahamud Agbaraojo,*

 *Hon. Bamidele Ajenifuja*

 and other respected stakeholders in Epe politics.

At the meeting, it was unanimously resolved that the Eredo LGA Chairmanship position would be conceded to *H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode's* slot, and my nomination was unanimously approved.

Following this decision, I was officially *sworn in alongside 16th other APC LGA Chairmen representing the Lagos East Senatorial District on 12 May 2026 by the state party*

 leadership led by 

*Mrs Olayinka Olusanya* and *Alhaji Kehinde Adeniyi.*

Subsequently, I received directives from the state leadership to inaugurate the *Eredo LGA officers and Ward Executive Committees,* which was successfully carried out on *3 June 2026*. 

Since then, I have continued to discharge my responsibilities in accordance with the constitution and directives of our great party.

I wish to reiterate that I, *Hon. Babatunde Julius Awonaike, remain the APC LGA Chairman of Eredo as the nominee of H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode*. My mandate is to serve the party and not any individual or particular group/caucus.

It is therefore surprising to witness *Hon. Monsuru Ismail* allegedly leading another inauguration of a different individual as *LGA Chairman* on *14th June 2026* , thereby creating what I believe a parallel party structure in Eredo LCDA. If accurate, such actions would be inconsistent with the constitution and established structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

I respectfully call on party leaders and stakeholders at both the local and state levels to intervene promptly in order to preserve unity and prevent further escalation.

It is my belief that this situation extends beyond personal interests and concerns the political structure associated with *H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode* in Eredo. I have also become aware of claims linking the name of *Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat* to these developments. If left unaddressed, such claims could create unnecessary misunderstandings between

 *HE AKINWUNMI AMBODE AND DR FEMI HAMZAT* and supporters of both leaders at a time when unity is essential for the success of our party that is mostly needed to win overwhelmingly with immense supports and votes in the forthcoming general elections for all our candidates.

*Hon Monsuru Ismail remains my amiable Chairman in Eredo LCDA government with long standing and lovely relationship. It is also my responsibility to work assidiously with him  as party chairman to foster unity,  love, peace and progress in our great local government.*

Once again, I reaffirm that I remain the *APC LGA Chairman of Eredo LCDA as a nominated slot of H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode.*

 I urge all party members to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to the unity and progress of the APC while the matter is being addressed by the appropriate party leadership.
